Laager 18 gathered for a memorable Valentine’s-themed camping weekend at Yellowsands from 13–15 February 2026, embracing the spirit of “Love is in the Air.” Despite a bit of unpredictable weather, the weekend was packed with laughter, relaxation, and the kind of camaraderie that makes camping truly special.
As highlighted on the newsletter page, Friday night kicked off in true camping style—with braais, jokes, and plenty of laughter around the fire. Campers enjoyed playful banter (and even a bit of cheeky “braai meat interference”) while conversations carried on into the early hours of the morning .
Saturday brought intermittent rain, but that didn’t slow things down. Some campers enjoyed relaxed board games while others took romantic walks along the beach. A special highlight was celebrating Brett’s birthday—perfectly fitting as the group’s “Valentine’s baby.” The afternoon saw everyone gathering to watch cricket with fellow campers before returning to the fireside, proving that even rainy weather can’t dampen true camping spirit. From braaing in the rain to swimming despite the weather, the day was filled with fun, laughter, and unforgettable moments .
By Sunday, the group came together for their traditional Indaba before packing up. Although the weekend flew by, it left everyone with great memories and a renewed appreciation for time spent with their camping family.
Rain or shine, this Yellowsands Outspan showed that when great people come together, every moment becomes something to cherish.
