Adventure, friendship, and spectacular South African landscapes came together in an unforgettable journey from Robertson to Plettenberg Bay during April 2026. Travelling through the heart of the Klein Karoo, the group explored iconic destinations including Barrydale, Oudtshoorn, Prince Albert, and the legendary Gamkaskloof — better known as “Die Hell.”

The expedition began with scenic stops along the famous R62 before settling in Oudtshoorn for a chilly but memorable stay filled with Karoo hospitality, delicious cuisine, and special celebrations among friends. But the true highlight awaited beyond the towering Swartberg Mountains.

With tyres deflated and excitement building, the convoy tackled the winding gravel roads and dramatic hairpin bends of the Swartberg Pass before descending into the remote and breathtaking Gamkaskloof valley. Surrounded by untouched natural beauty, towering cliffs, and endless mountain views, the group experienced one of South Africa’s most remarkable off-road adventures.

Evenings around the campfire beneath a star-filled sky created memories to last a lifetime, while stories of the valley’s rich history and resilient farming communities added even more depth to the experience. After conquering the challenging ascent out of Die Hell, the journey continued through the historic Prince Alfred Pass and scenic Outeniqua Mountains before arriving safely in Plettenberg Bay for a festive long weekend with fellow club members.

This incredible expedition showcased not only the rugged beauty of South Africa’s mountain passes and gravel roads, but also the spirit of adventure, camaraderie, and appreciation for nature that makes every journey unforgettable.
