Laager 21 gathered for a vibrant and laughter-filled weekend at Kleine Eike, nestled just outside the picturesque village of Greyton. Surrounded by mountains, local charm, and a bustling weekend market, the setting was perfect for a memorable camping escape.
Early arrivals made the most of the extended time, enjoying good food and great company despite some gusty winds. By Friday evening, the camp came alive around the fire, where spontaneous singing and playful creativity kept everyone entertained well into the night.
Saturday offered something for everyone. Many campers explored Greyton’s popular market and nearby wine festival, while others embraced the outdoors—cooling off in the refreshing Riviersonderend River or braving a float downstream adventure that proved more challenging on the return trek! Back at camp, the hosts put together a series of energetic and often hilarious games, sparking friendly competition, plenty of laughs, and just a hint of “controversy.”
As the day wound down, the traditional street braai brought everyone together once again. The excitement built as campers gathered to watch the Springboks take on France, with gees running high thanks to good company and a few festive treats. A Bok victory was the perfect ending to an already fantastic day.
Sunday morning’s indaba wrapped up the weekend with celebrations, including a birthday, welcoming new members, prize-giving, and the ever-entertaining fines session. Special awards recognised both outstanding contributions and humorous moments, adding to the spirit of the gathering.
With its mix of adventure, relaxation, and camaraderie, the Kleine Eike outspan left lasting memories for all who attended—another standout chapter in Laager 21’s camping journey.
